Potatoes are very versatile! The shadow on the ground from the potato is nicely done. Your potato looks very calming. Have you ever seen a potato sprout when it's been sitting around too long? THAT looks insane. Like here.
Mmm, potatoey. You have potato-drawing talent, Danielle. Haven't seen you "paint" much so it's interesting :) Also, regarding sprouts: sweet potatoes are pretty crazy too. We forgot one and I think it grew flowers... -Kelsey
The soft colors and the heart make it feel "like home" to me in some way. The subtle but sharp shading directly under the potato saves it from just 'drifting' in the softer background.
The technical stuff: Each week you are required to post your weekly sketchbook here--they should be uploaded before class each week. (remember, when you're scanning and posting to the blog, sketches should probably be 72 dpi and in Grayscale or RGB. Finals for printing should be scanned at 300 dpi.)
I encourage you to comment on each other's work and post any other projects or doodles you'd like to share or would like input on--this can include progress on class assignments, experiments, or links of interest you think the class would enjoy. This blog is to encourage you to help each other out, get ideas flowing, and see what everyone is up to! Have fun with it!
I'll be posting something myself each week, so stay tuned!

Now I have that LOTR potato remix stuck in my head. Thanks.
But it looks really nice. Maybe a few more blemishes would be nice.
The cool background looks great with the reddish brown and neutral colors of the potato. a little more texture would help but i think you succeeded.

Give it a happy face. Then it will be complete. ;D
And some Tomly Tears of Tom.
Whoa it grew flowers? I want one!! XD
And yes Ace, I think it needs a happy face and tomly tears haha.
I love the colors! Very soft and pleasing. Which is the opposite of what I usually think of potatoes. The background color is great too!
I love potatoes without end....they're holy.
