here's the next step in my progress. I have been changing and changing my color schemes and it's like I don't know what looks good or not, I'm honestly struggling with this, but this was done before I read you comments. Enjoy!
Well, I mostly agree with the other comments(brighter, more unexpected colors) but if you're looking for some color schemes try http://www.colourlovers.com/ 's palettes. You can search for specific colors, so you could find something to go with the blues, for example. So yes, a few hints of brighter color would be nice in my opinion. If you want to stick with more "realistic" colors then I'd make the syrup more of an amber color and the tongue more pink. However, definitely play with some crazier options--maybe just slide around the hue/saturation levels and see if you like the dogs being green or something, who knows! I like that the pancakes have lighter edges now. I think maybe the bottle should be the same or at least a similar color as the syrup because it's reading a little ketchup-y. Overall it's looking pretty good! I love this drawing :)
ok Kali thanks! It's overwhelming how much I could do. I was concerned about changing the pancake color because I still want them to read as pancakes. But I agree with the syrup bottle, I should definately alter that. I'm just concerned about using too many colors like Tomer's brother haha. But thanks for the link, I'll check it out to relieve myself :-). This one will be my final, but I'm thinking of bringing in other variations, that are quicker for times sake, just to present what other alternatives could've been.
Haha, that was Kelsey's good tip, not mine. But I love ColourLovers! Such a good site, and definitely great for palette colors. Lexi--don't worry too much! I'm sorry if I freaked you guys out. I'd rather have you try things out now and learn from them than be too scared to give it a go. (and tomer does use lots of colors...but most times they're all within a few families of colors in each piece) Keep it up! I'm excited to see the finals on Tuesday!
The technical stuff: Each week you are required to post your weekly sketchbook here--they should be uploaded before class each week. (remember, when you're scanning and posting to the blog, sketches should probably be 72 dpi and in Grayscale or RGB. Finals for printing should be scanned at 300 dpi.)
I encourage you to comment on each other's work and post any other projects or doodles you'd like to share or would like input on--this can include progress on class assignments, experiments, or links of interest you think the class would enjoy. This blog is to encourage you to help each other out, get ideas flowing, and see what everyone is up to! Have fun with it!
I'll be posting something myself each week, so stay tuned!
