Song-based illustrations can be more narrative if you want to tell a story based on the lyrics, or a little more interpretive of the mood of the song...think about how you want it to come across. I'll look forward to the sketches on tuesday! (don't be afraid to do a bunch of roughs first, especially if you're unsure about something & want to work it out!)Kali Ciesemierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04221992549077312702noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4021324840345537433.post-1313117353784760552010-04-14T15:29:25.921-04:002010-04-14T15:29:25.921-04:00Yes, definitely. I think I'll do 2-3 illustrations based off of a song I like. (and force them to wear crazy clothes and maybe add a few fantasy creatures). Thanks guys! I'm so excited!apricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00556055777834441362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4021324840345537433.post-32976825872167279742010-04-14T13:03:50.063-04:002010-04-14T13:03:50.063-04:00....That Sexy Back comic is so beautiful, I don.......That Sexy Back comic is so beautiful, I don't even...
Like Kali said, comics are deceptively time-consuming. I think maybe 2-3 pieces involving fantasy creatures/fashionable people would be nice. With a comic, they'd probably have to be simplified. Well, either way, some simplification is necessary. I'd say start with one key concept (like poems OR fashion OR fantasy) and build onto it.
No wait, scrap everything and chocolate milk. I'm a genius.Kelsey Sundayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16243186741979244381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4021324840345537433.post-37442488379838203562010-04-14T02:22:12.313-04:002010-04-14T02:22:12.313-04:00Hey Ace!
That sounds interesting, but I'll say...Hey Ace!
That sounds interesting, but I'll say off the bat it sounds like it mighttt be too complicated...doing a comic based off a poem could be cool, but does the poem exist already or would you have to write it? It'll take you too long to write a complicated comic and then draw it, especially if it's got fantasy creatures in outrageously unique clothing! Comics always take a lot longer than you expect. What if you just take a few of these elements and incorporate them into your final? Like making a simpler 2 or 3 page comic out of your favorite poem or song (check out this awesome comic by Jeremy Sorese using the lyrics of "Sexy Back" by Justin Timberlake http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeremy_sorese/3685200760/in/set-72157606747922440/ ) or just 2 or 3 illustrations based off your favorite poem or song or doing a series of illustrations of fantasy creatures at a masquerade ball or something in outrageously unique clothing (I thought of this Kay Nielsen illustration: http://www.animationarchive.org/pics/kaynielsen02.jpg )....or some combination of things! I think you need to simplify a little more, what do you think?Kali Ciesemierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04221992549077312702noreply@blogger.com
